THREADS of CULTURE- SUSTAINABLY in EVERY STICH

Sometimes inspiration blooms from the most surprising places.

In 2011, founders Ana Holschneider and Luis González opened Cervecería Hércules inside a centuries-old textile mill complex on the outskirts of Querétaro—once home to El Hércules, a massive, thriving textile factory, As they poured beers and welcomed guests, Ana kept her eye on the leftover cotton trim and fabric scraps scattered across the old factory floor. A creative spark ignited-and Caralarga was born.

What began as an impulse to repurpose was transformed into artistry. Those humble textile remnants became the foundation for hand-braided designs—necklaces, earrings, and eventually dramatic wall hangings. Each piece is a celebration of craftsmanship and sustainability. Over time, the brand grew from a small two-person operation to a thriving atelier with over 60 artisans weaving stories through textiles.

At Carla’s Boutik, we share this same philosophy. We believe that fashion and décor can connect us to the world-through culture, craftsmanship, and conscious style. Caralarga’s work aligns with our ethos of “Global Infused Style,” where every item feels authentic, luxurious, and meaningful.

A few highlights of their journey include:

  • Handmade with heart: Every wall piece—each “long piece,” as they call it—is crafted by a single artisan. Their Mini Mitla, now featured at Crate & Barrel, takes about 13 hours to make and weighs 10 pounds with iron hardware; yet some pieces stretch over 20 feet long. That precision. That dedication. That’s luxury with a soul.

  • Rooted in place, reaching for the world: Caralarga still sources its cotton trimmings from the successor of El Hércules’s original textile producer—over 200 miles away in Puebla—preserving their commitment to sustainability and community, even as they carve out new paths.
